About Me, Equipment and Other FAQs

Who are you, and what else do you do?
I'm Charlaxy.  I'm an American, female, 25 years old, and I've been playing games since I was old enough to remember them.  I studied political philosophy and international relations at university, but I've been passionate about computers and PC games for a very long time.  They're an interest that's probably more fascinating and less frustrating.  I also like reading and writing sci-fi.

Who is your companion for the videos?
I don't reveal the identity of my companions who join me on gaming odysseys, unless they wish to be identified.  It's a sacred trust.

What equipment do you use for game videos?

Camera:
Microsoft LifeCam Studio, a 1080p HD webcam.

Microphone:
Shure SM58, beginning with the Fallout: New Vegas playthrough.
Sennheiser HMD 280-13 headset prior to that.

Mixer:
Mackie U.420d, a compact mixer that does almost everything I want.

Recording:
Fraps for gameplay video.
Audacity for audio editing.
Avidemux for most video editting.  Previously used VirtualDub.
XMedia Recode for conversion to FLV format.  Previously used SUPER, which gives good quality results at a small file size, but is very, very slow.
Videos hosted on Blip.tv.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience using these applications.  If you have suggestions for other software, please write to me.

PC:
Sound card: ASUS Xonar DX
What other games do you have?
Check here for the full list of Steam games.  You're welcome to request/suggest something for review!  I also have many contemporary and classic consoles and games.

Do you accept donations?
I don't want to accept monetary donations currently.  I don't like asking for them.  If you enjoy the site, please share it with someone else and continue watching videos.  I make a small amount from ad revenue (less than 1 cent per view) from the videos.  Whatever I do make from it, I plan to invest into video equipment (camera, editing software, and accessories).  If you really would like to contribute, I ask that you consider giving something.  A PC game would be ideal, since I can then review that.  I have a Steam wishlist.  Other games or items that you might want to contribute would also be greatly appreciated, and if possible, I'll review them and give you a mention as thanks for your generosity.
